Mc Collie Avenue
This single family residence is located in Turnagain neighborhood in Anchorage, Alaska. The goals of the project were to open up the kitchen to the living room and bring in more light. The existing kitchen was in need of a complete overhaul and thus presented us with the opportunity for moving it to the opposite wall. The existing built-in bookshelves were located fortuitously to be utilized as an appliance garage behind the live edge walnut shelves. The unused sauna was converted to a pantry, keeping the cedar walls and making a new opening from the kitchen. The doors to the garage and bathroom have been integrated into the plywood paneling on the wall. We designed and fabricated the dining table, the bar and dining chairs are from IKEA. The client repurposed some large Ball jars to make the pendants over the table. The powder room has handmade basins by the client's mom. Upstairs we added a bathroom and walk in closet to the master bedroom and enclosed the deck before it leaked into the living space below.
